I didn't either!!! I divided the mileage covered by the gallons purchased. Why I love my 4Runner...now remember it was on cruise control as well at 70mph...

I got 28 mpg from Ft. Lauderdale to Naples crossing Alligator Alley in my 2000 SR5. I set cruise control at 70 mph & let everyone pass me. Go figure. In town I get 21 mpg.
