I could have given you mine, it went in the recycle bin. I pulled that off of my V6 and put on the factory V8 hitch. Found mine at a wrecking yard. They are hard to find, but I wouldn't hesitate to go aftermarket - frame mounted hitch.

I did just this on my 2007. I don't think the 2004 should be different. You may have difficulty putting your hands on an original Toyota 4runner v8 hitch, and might want to consider an aftermarket one.

I have a 2007 V6 that I wanted to upgrade to the v8 hitch. I was lucky enough to find a (front end) wrecked v8 locally and did a direct swap. The hitch height/location is covered by the factory "fill plate". I don't know what to call that plate, but I think it results in a lower hitch. When...

Don't trust FordF150-captsolo. Get the right fluid in there as soon as you can.

CaptSolo or CaptF150? All you need to do is get some quality synthetic oil to stop all of your oil leaks. And some proper WS for your WS transmission.

I was able to reduce the ticking coming from my v6 by following this - but it's still there. V6 Tick Tic Tap Noise Reduced!

Shop around for HG replacement costs, and then go back to your trusted mechanic for a reality check. Hopefully, you can get a better deal from your mechanic. If not, you may have found a new pool of shops to visit.
