5th Gen Limited - Replace XREAS with Bilstein 4600 or 5100

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. I take it this is due to salt? I hope you reported it to Bilstein. In California we don’t have to deal with that. Never had any issues with mine.

Recently I had problems with my Key Remote Lock & Unlock not working. I found a very simple solution to fix it but I will still give a full step by step to troubleshoot your problem. I decided to create a new thread so the troubleshooting will be on top. Step-1: Change your battery but do...

Thanks for this link. It fixed my problem!!! I had Duracell in my keys and switched to Energizers and it worked. I’ve tested it multiple times through out the day and it has worked perfectly. So I was curious as to why Duracell battery were causing problems but not others. I found a very...

Problem with Key Remote Lock and Unlock 2016 4Runner

Hi All Recently my key remote lock and unlock feature hasn’t been working properly. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve replaced the batteries in both keys and tested both keys for a signal and they work. Even after this the problem still persist with both keys. So I can safely...

5th Gen Limited - Replace XREAS with Bilstein 4600 or 5100

Here is my experience with Bilstein shock. Road wise the 5100 and 6112 offers very similar performance. The difference between the two show up when breaking hard and turning. With the 6112 you will get a little less nose dipping and leaning when turning at high speeds but the trade off is a...

Well I had the dealer do the 60k transmission svc..

Yeah I wouldn’t go back to this guy either. The fact he tried to lie to you is good reason enough. Anyone at car dealer tells you that the transmission fluid is life time and doesn’t need to be changed is full of BS. Lifetime fluid means long enough to get pass the warranty and not the...

Odd Vibration When Driving Over 50 mph

Yeah that’s my first go to. I actually tried to do that last Friday. I went to Bruce Tires and tried to get an alignment and my tires rebalanced and rotated. However, they told me that my tires are too old and they won’t touch them. They said their store policy says they can’t balance or even...

Odd Vibration When Driving Over 50 mph

Yeah I’ve considered this but I pulled on my axle and it seems pretty firm. There is no play in it. When I get back home I’m going to get my wheels balanced and aligned just to eliminate this as a cause. While it’s up I’ll have the tire shop try and shake the wheel to see if there is any play...

Upper and Lower Control Arms Plus Bilstein 5100s

Impressive. I currently have the full Bilstein setup. Did something break and that’s why you changed it or was it just simply time to replace it?

Upper and Lower Control Arms Plus Bilstein 5100s

If you’re going to use bilstien coils go with the 600lb coils. This should give you the right height. For every extra 100-150lb of front weight increase the coil rating by 50lb. If you’re going for stock height then OEM is fine. Note a Bilstien set up will be a firmer ride but will handle...
