If your paint is on the dull side, you just *might* need a polish job. That's a bit more involved than a typical "detail."
However, you might be able to get away with a good decontamination job, and a decent wax. That MIGHT be able to bring some shine back.

A rotary is a great tool...if you know how to use it. I haven't tried it, but will some day. They can be dangerous if you don't know how to properly use one.
A Dual Action orbital buffer is preferred as it's safer. Harbor Freight has one for damn cheap.
I had seen this video too. That guy Larry does some killer work.
That scratch was crazy deep, and I believe he tried three different methods of doing it.
Pics would be nice. Depending on how deep the scratch is, you might be able to at least make it look better.
