make sure you have the correct "illumination" wire connected to the radio. sometimes there are positive and negative "ILLU" wires on different headunits. when in doubt, dont connect any of the orange wires. see if that fixes it

yea really depends on the store. The one i went to in san jose over torqued all my lugs and stripped 10 wheel studs! They told me one stud was hosed but that it was safe to drive on, didnt follow up on my calls trying to schedule a time to fix it. They finally fixed them when i pressed the issue...
