    Rear spring recommendation

I run the 890s with 4th gen Bilsteins and find them perfect to borderline too soft. 906s are stiffer than the 890s. Either a total difference of preference, or maybe the sock valving is not real good for the 890s

    Cummins 2.8L in a 3rd gen?

In purely practical terms, I can't think of a single good reason to spend 10k on putting a diesel in a 4runner. You'll never recoup that in fuel savings, and the new cummins' reliability hasn't been proven where the 5vze has. Cool project for sure, but you could have a good running reliable 3rd...

Should I replace the starter plunger?!

You should replace the contacts too while you're in there. One of them looks pretty worn. Once it goes you'll right back where you are now.

Best place to buy OME lift kit in Canada?

4wheelparts has stores in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. http://www.4wp.com Also. EBI Cruisers in BC can get and ship OME stuff and is good to deal with. I got my OME 890s from 4wheelparts.

New Suspension: Lift it or leave it

My main issue is wheel alignment. Getting it properly aligned within factory specs (especially caster) was difficult. 2 shops told me they were unable to (including a dealership.) Finally, I found a 4runner specialist who could do it, but it continually drifts out of spec over the course of a...

New Suspension: Lift it or leave it

Leave it. Lifting over stock height will bring you nothing but headaches. The truck is plenty capable how it is, and was engineered to be. I faced the same question as you, and decided to lift. Looks great, but in terms of drivability, I regret it. For a slight improvement over '02 height, use...

What's the benefit of extra droop in the front if only the stuffed tire has traction?

    Best A/T for snow

Check out the Cooper Discoverer AT/W. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company - Discoverer A/TW? I ran these for awhile, including a trip beyond the arctic circle and back. Quiet on the highway, They have the mountain peak snow rating. Excellent everywhere I took them. Plus they are way cheaper than the BFGs

The worst part of a 3rd gen?

Worst part is driving position/headroom, rollover potential, and the fact that rear end damage is very difficult to fix.

    Help! Alignment Question

Lifting is one of the worst things you can do to your truck as far as on-road driveability and handling goes. Without aftermarket UCAs you'll be lucky if you can get your caster within the specified range, luckier if you can keep it there. But if you think your rig drives fine with 0 caster...

At least my local dealer knows why I laugh at their pricing...

Canadian parts prices in general are crazy. No Toyota dealer in my area gives anything but the retail price. Even Toyotapartsdirect.ca is pricey, especially once you factor in the (what seems like) $50 minimum shipping charge. It is cheaper for me to order out of the US even with the 40% the...

    Off-Roading Tips!!! Sway Bars

I see no reason to disconnect the fronts. The wheel at full droop will have no weight on it and traction.

Bilstein rear shock broke, looking to upgrade rear suspension, need advice!

I find that the FJ bilsteins work very well with longer coils. Part number 33-187174.
