My 4th Gen Front Brakes walkthrough

I used a breaker bar with a short piece of pipe on it for extra leverage. They were in there good. I used Wagner thermo quite pads. They had the shim built in. I did not re use the factory shim. I thought I had a sized piston as well. Turns out that I just wasn't turning hard enough. I...

My 4th Gen Front Brakes walkthrough

Great write up. Thanks to the OP. I just did this job this weekend and this guide was helpful. A few tips that I will add for anyone in the future doing this. 1. I had one pin that was real easy to remove with a hammer and a flat head screw driver. The others weren't so easy. I took one...

    Break Pad Shims

Many aftermarket break suppliers integrate the shim into the pad. Wagner thermo quite is known for this. I wouldn't pay $50 for shims. Thats the same price as the pads.

I use a flexable hose on my greese gun. With that, I can reach any fitting regardless of position.

100w or 80w in High Beams?

I wouldn't do this without installing a new harness, you risk fire and/or your wiring harness burning up. What you can do is buy an aftermarket fog light wiring harness. You can use the wire to the high beams to trigger the new relay. This way you can run any watage you want without risking...

    Can't read the dipstick

if you pull it out and there is oil on it, your fine. I do my own oil changes, so I know exactly how much I put in there. It doesn't burn any oil so, I'm good. It is difficult to read and take out. Be sure to put a little oil around the o ring as it can get stuck in there.

I HAVE NO POWER!!! (alternator problem)

It's the alternator. How old is the battery? If it's origional you might want to do both as batterys usually only last 5 years, more or less. I replace my battery every 5 years regardless to be safe as I don't want to get stuck in the hood with a truck that won't start.

    BRAKE Repair Cost?

replace the rotors! The 4R along with other trunks have warping issues with rotors. When you cut them, they may be true, but there is less metal for stopping, which creates more heat and more warping.
