The GX case has a lever for Hi and Low, but relies on an electronic actuator (activated via dash switch) to lock the center diff. It's easier to fix when it leaks, but you still have that electronic component.

Tip someone gave me: spray the boots every now and then with 303 protectant, helps prolong their life. I hit my cv boots and balljoints w/ 303 at every oil change, takes 30 seconds and is cheap.

FWIW, that uncoated balljoint looks like a knock-off, I thought SPC zinc coated all of their balljoints. No help on the arms themselves, I bought some several years ago and they were the lower design. The upper looks forged?

FWIW, when I recently did my suspension, removing the lower shock bolt and the 2 19mm around the lower ball joint allowed me to get that LCA almost perfectly vertical - so plenty of space.

I've been doing the exact same research for about the same time. I'm unsure whether the non-ADD front diff turning the tcase front output all of the time really does any harm*; or if people just "think" that to be the case. Too few people have done this swap to draw any meaningful conclusions...

I've been buying all of my tires from Discount Tire (local shop is awesome!) or Tire Rack - agreed, can't go wrong with either of them. I'll stick with them. I also see Priority Tire loves to ship years-old tires - like 4, 5 years old.

I put a dab of Hylomar (any RTV would be fine) on the bolts and put them back in place. Sorry I don't remember what size the bolts are, but imho this is useful if you ever want to re-use those holes for something else.

Priority Tire did issue my refund today.
