3rd Gen ABS Front Wheel Speed Sensor Test and Replacement
Here's an easy repair. I just did it on my 1998 T4R SR5 4WD with 140K. Just thought I'd share.
You can make this POST better by commenting what model years have the same sensors. My 98 got a donor from a 97 and it bolted right on...
I agree. Thanks It must be the battery or a bad cable connection.
Please don't mistake my questioning about other possibilities. I doubted it was a battery problem for the following reasons, which I did not originally tell in my story because I didn't think it was interesting enough to tell...
I pulled battery and tested it and it's fine. 100% charged. Holds under a load.
I respect your advice and expertise, but what makes the dash go completely dead after just one click and it will not come back on until I let it sit for a minute? My terminals are tight. If I turn ignition key...
Thanks for even reading this! I hope you can help me.
1998 T4R 4WD AT 133K.
I am wondering if my symptoms are related to the neutral safety switch.
Sunday - Turn the key and only get a series of electrical clicking sounds from under the hood. Starter doesn't crank. I made sure AT shifter...
Thanks Baja! That is just what I needed. I hope I might only need new contacts too! That'd save me some dough. My top starter bolt was a pain and seemed like it was possibly crossthreaded at the factory - sounds unlikely - I know -but the bottom one came out the rest of the way with just...
Thanks for even thinking about helping me!
1998 T4R 4WD starter went out. Haynes manual made it sound easy but does not describe how to get it outa the engine bay. I struggled, and starter is off, but I cannot remove it from the engine bay because of all the other stuff that is in the way...
Hello, and thanks in advance for the responses!
1998 T4R 4WD with 133K. I am trying to diagnose the ABS light which stays on. Brakes work fine but I might have a warped rotor cause I get a bit of vibration.
Anyway, fixed a broken wheel stud today and took some pix.
Is this the sensor...
Just took this off at 131K.
Hi! This thread made me wonder how dirty my fuel filter really was. I just bought this 98 T4R with 131K and some things obviously have been abused, but I think the drive train is still in great shape.
So I bought some line wrenches at HF and the fuel filter change...
Thanks KBall. The clock spring I installed came from a 1996 T4R. The only difference from my 1998 was the clip for the airbag. I simply cut wires and spliced on the 98 clip that I had from my broken clock spring. It pays not to throw stuff away!!!!! LOL!!!! See Pix. The 96 clip is on the left.
If the clock spring in your steering column is damaged, your horn, cruise control, or airbag (or all 3 may not function). Here is how I made the repair.
Special thanks goes to T4R member Singtoe (you rock man!) :guitar2: for helping diagnose the problem and getting me the parts I need!
I...
The timing belt tensioner is not cheap. My 1998 T4R has 131K and runs great, but I have no history on the truck since it was purchased at an auction. I'm doing belts and thermostat soon. I say keep the old tensioner in service unless it looks damaged. What say you? I'd like some opinions...
