We went ahead and got the 2001 3rd gen running with its original (273,484 mile) engine. Had to replace the injectors and the head gasket (due to an unsecured battery).

I need help I don’t know that much about 4Runners. So I just made an account here. I was wondering if you could swap the engine from a 1997 forerunner that is rear wheel to 4Wheel drive 2001 4runner. I don’t know if it is worth my time to fix the 4 wheel drive 4Runner. But I need to fix it...
