The engine feels slightly more responsive at cold and hot operating temps. Had 0w30 AFE in prior to switching. I have seen a slight increase in fuel economy. Will be sending off a sample after this interval to see how things are going with the switch. But I do think it was worth switching over too.

Running Mobil 1 EP 0w20 in mine right now, so far so good. I've seen a variety of used oil analysis over at bobistheoilguy and the 4.7's are extremely easy on oil. I learned a lot about oil over there.

I wouldn't bet on that one. Everything you've mentioned in this thread about the V8 is groundless. I do agree that if you maintain them they'll last. Both are great engines and have long service life's.

The 6 cyl produces it's max tq at around 4000 rpm, the 8 cyl produces the same number at 1000 rpm. And I disagree on the reliability being greater on the 6 cyl. The 8 is a proven engine.

I run Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic, I chose Synthetic because I do lots of short trips.

How about a frozen caliper? I had one and it was costing me 1mpg.

2005 Sport just rolled over 126,000.

High mileage isn't needed, I bought my 4runner with 124k and switched it to synthetic (Pennzoil Ultra). Can't go wrong with any oil these days as long you keep it changed.

Paid 13.5k for my 2005 Sport 4x4 V8 one owner with all service records done at Toyota dealer. This was back in September.
