No motor actuator (that I know of), so not finding anything pertaining to what I'm having a problem with. The problem, can't switch from face/floor to defrost. The reason? The cam/groove mechanism gets "stuck". I'll to describe what is happening the best that I can. This is on the left side...

Right below the ignition behind the lower dash panel is where the alarm system connects into the wiring harness. Disconnect the alarm system and the harness allows you to by pass it all together. Do this to at least see if it's something else or your alarm system. That's where I'd start. GL!

My problem ended up being the ground wire for the diagnostic unit port in the engine bay. The bolt had backed out some.

You'll want the newer head gasket. The early ones were composite, the newer ones are MLS.

Did you ever get this figured out? What did the problem end up being? I'm having the same problem, but mine is fine from idle to 3k, but above that it doubles(estimate) up on the RPMs shown on the tach.

Do you still have the keyless entry system? It'll be under the drivers seat. Thanks

Hypothetically, if you forgot to remove a camshaft service bolt, what kind of noise would you expect to hear? Purely hypothetical, not like I'd post evidence that I'd do that.:withstupid:

It's probably nitpicking, but maybe replace the two of us on the dipstick, get new orings for the injectors. I just swapped engines and long story short had a fuel leak due to a bad o ring.

If it's in the injectors, shoot me a PM, I have a extra set that I just had cleaned and flow matched that I'd part with for what it cost me to get them cleaned. $10/ea. Hopefully it's just a loose hose connection. GL!

Post swap thoughts Engine and transmission swap completed. New engine is very quite, barely vibrates at idle. AFR is below 14, but staying above 11. If I decide to adjust the tuning w/ the mapecu I'll need to figure out a way to keep the ECU powered so that it doesn't re-learn w/ different...

Headers FYI, THY-507-C Thorley Headers are not a direct fit for pre 99 4runners. You have to cut off the collector and weld in a universal flange that comes with the kit. The flange is .2" bigger opening than the stock piping.

I hate to add to the fallout list, but I'm out too. Same story, coin purse is being tightened up until the back log of projects increases. Thank you for setting this up, I hope to be able to get these after the new year.

Talked w/ master tech at Toyota and he answered by questions and concerns. Going to keep it as is and just keep an eye on it (just for my own concerns because I'm used to owning American vehicles).
