If nothing else, the through line with KDSS repairs seems to be corrosion. I wonder if that is part of the reason KDSS is not even available in some regions whereas California/Colorado it is quite common.
Would love to see the repair bill/quote as it really seems the point of it was the dealer...
How bad is the rest of the frame? It really is a bummer how 5G’s are so susceptible to rust and if l lived in the rust belt, I would not own one.
It really might be time to beat it on down the line as even a $3-$4000 repair would be tough to swallow if the rest of the frame is rusting badly as...
Owing to the hydraulic fan, start up is pretty loud. Same goes with the ‘21 GX I briefly had and might be even louder at startup. GX is a bit quieter with double pained glass in the front and the V8 is smoother. Really noticed it when we first purchased it, but stopped noticing. Especially...
That is pretty funny.
However, mine rides pretty darn smooth. Not sure how the Limited/Sports ride on 20s, but with 17s they are pretty forgiving.
And aside from when hunting gears (forgot to mention the 5sp), noise levels are pretty good. Not as good as the ‘21 GX I had owing to the GX...
Having traded in a ‘21 GX last year, the 4R is a sea of black plastic. Prefer the fake carbon fiber to fake wood or aluminum in other 4R’s.
However, the MSRP is quite a bit lower than the GX and truthfully anything else I have owned in some time as I had a 100 Series for a decade and a Ultra...
If your budget is in the mid 30s, to spend the additional $10,000 or so makes sense to me. I get not wanting to do so, but to have 60-70,000 less miles, warranty, etc….
And consider the Lexus GX which shares the same platform.
While I get not wanting to spend more, to spend $10000 to get a brand new one over one with 75,000 miles or so and 4-5 years older would be problematic for me.
At that budget, I would also consider the Lexus GX as their resale value tends to be not as strong
When I upgraded mine, I was pretty convinced I would use Focal all around, but I ended up only using a Focal subwoofer and enclosure.
The biggest issue for mine was Focal does not offer the upper tier series in a 6x9 component set. While I ended up using Morel, there are many options...
I agree with the last posts. Getting rid of the ethanol is the thing I would guess would make a difference.
When I lived in coastal Oregon, I often did use 100% gasoline as the difference in price was not too bad.
The 2022’s are much more tempting as I really did struggle with the idea of a $60k vehicle in 2021 not having CarPlay.
Ultimately, if copacetic with the front end of the GX, I would have a hard time choosing a 22 Limited.
I will also say the random compliments go way in the 4R’s favor. Never...
Very clean install and I bet it sounds amazing.
I went back and forth whether to custom fabricate an enclosure for the subwoofer. Still cannot believe JL Audio does not offer a StealthBox for the 4Runner c/m considering they sold around 150,000 of them.
Focal FLAX Universal 10 Sealed enclosure...
