    weird warning

Hi guys, it has been a while since I have been on the forum, no problems with the rig I guess, until now. I was on my way down to Mexico when a warning icon appeared in the dash info center. I couldn't get a good look at it while I was driving, so I continued another few miles to a gas station...

Are the steel tariffs affecting the steel fab industry?

Maybe so, but those were also already baked into the economy. I think the the "some countries"that you speak of is China and I agree with you. Canada and Mexico are not in that group. What I said about tariffs goes for those countries (China) too and they have no problem screwing their...

Prepping for 3 weeks in Wyoming/Montana

I would suggest a cargo net or some other way to secure the cargo, you don't want it in your lap in case of a collision. Enjoy the trip. The first time that I went to Montana, I realized what they mean by big sky...Mark

You're right, those catalytic converters get plenty hot enough to start a fire. Years ago at an outdoor concert in AZ, an overflow crowd caused the venue to park the extra cars on an unprepared field. A hot converter started a fire that burned up around 250 cars and the only thing that saved...

Are the steel tariffs affecting the steel fab industry?

If it hasn't yet, it certainly will, unless something is changed in the mean time.It is pretty well known that all a tariff is is a tax on the people of the country that places the tariff. So far, each tariff has been reciprocated by the target country of the tariff. Of course, the companies...

Odd thing happened with my 2 week old truck today

We share the same goals of wanting to help those that aren't necessarily mechanics. I have only ever bought 2 new vehicles in my life, this one and a 2014 VW Beetle tdi, which I only had for 3 years before they bought it back from me. Thanks VW! That was also the money that I used to buy the...

Odd thing happened with my 2 week old truck today

Not unreasonable, but a theory. I have lived almost my entire life in Phoenix. There are around 4 million people in the metro Phoenix area. Of those, there has to be 2 million vehicles that have some sort of computing device in them. I am not sure where you live, but here 98 degrees is a nice...

Odd thing happened with my 2 week old truck today

Heat is a way of life in Phoenix. I have owned many cars and I have never seen heat cause this problem. I doubt that the factory makes the cars sold in AZ any different than the same cars sold in Alaska.IMO, there is a different cause for this problem...Mark

Odd thing happened with my 2 week old truck today

Just a comment about heat affecting the 4Runner's brain. I have had mine for 2 Phoenix summers now and have never had that problem. In June, the exterior thermometer of the truck showed 122 degrees F. when I started her up. I would tend to believe that it is more likely the fuse, as described in...

Playin' around with it in Mx This is the first time that I have done a little 4 wheelin' in the 4Runner. It would have made it up to the top, but the landing on the other side was a bit shaky. I am already considering some of the mods that I have seen on this site. I have a new Warn winch and...

Is it possible to make this roof rack for our 5th Gen 4Runner??

I am a new Admin on another site and my job is vetting the new members. In most cases it is fairly ez to ferret out the spammers, but the really smart ones can get through. It is an imperfect world. The ones that do get through generally post a few innocuous posts, before they start spamming...

Uh oh!!! I'm in BIG trouble now!!!

I have a friend that traded his Pantera (I don't remember what year) for a '63 split window Corvette, years ago. I don't know for sure, but by today's standards, that might have been an even swap...Mark
