The LED's will put less light out almost every time, but in an application like this its a tough call. To make the best use of HID lights, a projector is the best route. Another big thing to think about is power consumption. The LED's will draw a fraction of the power of either an HID or...

As far as brands, its all personal preference. I typically use Royal Purple and/or Mobile 1. They do engine oil, transfer case, differentials and maybe A/T (I don't recall. I supplied them with engine, transfer case and diffs.
