New Gobi Rack pics, question for other owners...

Antman - You almost give me a perfectly good excuse to mount lights on the rack, lol. I've spent too much on the Harley lately for this to fly. You've done an amazing job with your 4Runner, and I've been wondering when I'll see you beating around in Bel Air - not yet. I know Mariner's Point...

New Gobi Rack pics, question for other owners...

Just to be clear, I'm experiencing more of a "strong wind gusting on top of my head" problem than a resonating cabin pressure sound problem, which you seem to be describing. Similar set of issues though. I'll report back after I've adjusted it forward and/or back from where it is in the pics above.

New Gobi Rack pics, question for other owners...

If I open the rear window or the rear passenger windows about 3 inches, it seems to act as a vent and tame the turbulence. The bad thing about opening that rear window is that rotten egg catalytic converter odor. If all the windows are up and the roof is open, it blows down on my head in gusts...

New Gobi Rack pics, question for other owners...

3 month follow-up I went on a trip to OBX and took advantage of 75% of the rack, and the utility of the rack proved to be excellent. Had to rely on one of those tire steps for loading since the ladder had not arrived in time for the trip. The rack is sturdy as hell, and I've gotten comments...

Here are some images of the sunroof area, pertaining to the wind turbulence. I faded the deflector back along with the pitch of the windshield border. The deflector has a pretty good mating, or contact with the roof.

New Gobi Rack pics, question for other owners...

Haven't posted here in a while. I got this new Gobi Stealth Rack, which I'm totally impressed with, so I thought I'd share these photos. Unfortunately, the ladder is on back order. No hitches with the install to really speak of. Definitely a 2 man job to get it positioned on the roof of the...

Pics of driver and front passenger windows at 35% tint, rest stock

I ended up getting the 20% Solar Guard at D&L - everything just like you said. At night, it's pretty dark, and can actually be a little difficult to see so I take extra time when I look through the window to enter traffic at night. I took my wife there to get her Subaru Impreza tinted, and she...

Call Car Audio Members - Sub Enclosure question

I really like the performance of my JL Audio 12 inch W3 sub. The suspended enclosure blends better with the speakers, and provides tight, musical bass. I'm driving it with a 300W channel from the 5 channel Alpine PDX-5 digital amp. This system provides very good sound quality without all of...

Looks pretty good, but also appears to be very pricey. If I went this route, I'd be blacking out a lot (grill, rails, handles, rear emblem, trims etc) which would be a heavy financial commitment. It takes a back seat to my HD Road King plans :naughty:

What exactly could be covered with the colored (black) wraps? I'd love to trim my 4R out in Trail Edition-like matte black on the door handles, roof rails, and grille. It would have to be a reliable and durable product though.

Pics of driver and front passenger windows at 35% tint, rest stock

I understood this in your first post. It doesn't sound too terribly risky to go with 20% unless I'm doing something more severe to invite the attention of the Police, or give them another reason to want to write me up. I'm somewhat inclined to get the 20% treatment. If I ever get a repair...

Antman, your 4Runner looks great! Glad to hear that D&L does a good job. I live in Joppa, so they're on my list of possible installers. What kind of tint did they use, and how much did they charge? Thanks...

Pics of driver and front passenger windows at 35% tint, rest stock

I'm trying to determine if it's worthwhile to tint to 35%, which is the legal limit in the state of MD for the driver and front passenger windows. It looks like 20% would match nicely with the rear (looks great!), but I don't want to give Troopers any reasons to pull me over. Thanks for any...

Help me w/ aftermarket stereo setup

Everything is installed, with just one problem... I had everything professionally installed and I'm generally pleased with the fit and finish, and it sounds great. The power is everything I'll ever need, and the tone is pretty natural sounding (for a car stereo) when set to flat frequency...

Help me w/ aftermarket stereo setup

Thanks for all your input on this thread. I've decided to get the PDX5, Type R components (6.5" should be fine, right?) for the front doors and dash, and Type R coaxials for the rear doors. I'll just stick w/ the same sub I was planning to get. I'll let the installer hit me up on the wires...
