Toyota WS ATF vs Valvoline MaxLife V8 2004

I'm using Maxlife "full exchange" for almost 6,000 miles. Normal smooth shifts honestly can't tell much of a difference. Interestingly on very cold mornings in winter shifts are smoother. Remember I am comparing fluid that had 100k to fresh fluid... IMO, there are others on the Tundra forums...

    DIY A/C Recharge

By chance can the refrigerant get "old" over time and as maintenance, lets say every 10 years have it vacuumed out and replaced with fresh refrigerant? For you A/C pros do you see any value to this?

Help: Toyota WS ATF or Maxlife ATF

I'm using maxlife in my 2006 V8 4Runner. Drives just as good as it did new with no sporadic shifting or anything, honestly it's perfect. Cost was not a concern and would have gladly renewed with WS fluid. If you go on bobistheoilguy you can find some VOA tests and discussions in regards to...

    V8 thermostat replacement?

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping there is no air bleeding procedure or a need to drain 3 qt.s to make the loss of coolant minimal from the t-housing.

Reboot or buy new CV axles?

Good for you man, the CV axels from NAPA are the way to go especially with the warranty. To set the axl back in, set up the axel in the diff and hub and push it in by grabbling on the rotor. My clicked in beautifully, getting it out is a PITA!

    V8 thermostat replacement?

Hey guys, A buddy and I are going to replace the thermostat on his 07 Limited V8 4runner. I cannot find torque specs for the three bolts on the thermostat housing? I will assume it's only an O-ring being used to seal the housing? Should I drain out a quart of coolant from the radiator...

    Transmission Flush ?

No worries, I think after 70k the first shifts were a little more noticeable but nothing I was ever concerned about.

    Transmission Flush ?

Your write-up is what I used! Kudos to you for excellent instructions! I used a huge syphon syringe gun(easier on rotator cuff injury) and pulled fluid from the transmission cooler.

    Transmission Flush ?

With the original fluid and a cold car, I would get a soft thud no matter if it was winter or summer from 1-2, after the car warmed up 1-2 was fine on the old WS fluid. With the new fluid my car has a different characteristic for the better, the 1-2 shift is not noticeable but 2-3 is more...

    Transmission Flush ?

I did the transmission fluid exchange through the transmission cooler at 99,500. I actually used Valvoline maxlife as it's viscosity is about the same as WS fluid but the add pack is supposedly much better. I used about 14qt's, the original fluid was nasty but never had any shifting problems...

    V8 timing belt question

Thanks for the fast replies ! The consensus seems to be to change the tensioner. Honestly it would be preferred to do The whole job myself, I don't mind to buy any extra tools since the savings would still significantly out way paying someone else to do it That's why were all here...

    V8 timing belt question

Hey guys, just got a quick question in regards to the timing belt tensioner for us V8 guys. My 2006 4runner is ready to hit 100K, I called a couple dealers to get an estimate and none of them recommended to do the tensioner for the timing belt. The car is 10yo and I don't know what else to...
