T4R gang,
I just had my 30K maintenance done about 2 months ago. The stealership quoted me $450 so I decided to do some of it myself. They did the differential fluid, transmission fluid and oil change while I did the spark plug and air filter change (they wanted $130 for the spark plug change...
Well, finally had a moment to pull apart the dash again and ground the RCA connector on the PIE adapter but no luck. The high pitch whine is still there. I did not have a ground loop isolator to try but heard that does not work either. I assume it is a noise on the power line that the Roady is...
I have not had a chance to pull the dash apart again. I am hopeful I will have some time this weekend. My plan is to either find a nut attached to the frame in the HU area when I pull it out or run one up the back and down to a spot on the frame near the pedals.
I installed the 2006 Scion HU with the single disk MP3 player. Got it on EBay for $89 + $10 S/H. A far superior unit than the stock CD/Casette unit. I also installed the TOY03-AUX PIE unit as a direct feed from my XM Roady XT unit.
The only problem I have is that there is a high pitch whine...
Just installed the 06 Scion HU also. Love the SSP, it really bumps up the XM from my Roady XT. Also installed the PIE TOY03-AUX but am getting a high pitch whine when the XM is routed through it. I may have to ground the RCA adapter.
I have a question for you guys. What is the AUX button for...
I would also love to add the audio controls to my SR5 but I was told it was over $1000 by the dealership because they are completely different steering columns and airbag assemblies. I am not sure if it is cheaper elsewhere but I doubt anyone but a dealership can get the parts. I haven't found...
The fit on those mats is amazing, especially with the high sides. I bought a similar set for a Land Rover I used to own. They are great for protecting the carpet underneath but when they get wet (especially in the winter) anything placed on it gets wet since the raised part is not high enough...
I had the same problem when I bought mine. The dealership said they would give me a "deal" and order me one key fob for $105. I ordered 2 through EBay for $60 with shipping. They work great even though the programming instructions do everything but ask you to spin around and pat your head...
Doesn't look like the SR5 came standard with keyless entry but it was part of the Extra Vale Package #2 if the original owner ordered it. You can see if it has any of the other items on the list and this could narrow down the likelihood that it has keyless entry...
AlexJet,
now you only have to find a way to save enough money on fuel to pay for all those mods!!
I agree that rust from the salt on the road is the biggest problem with the open air racks like the Powderhound. That is one reason that I just toss the gear in the back of the 4Runner. It is a...
I turned in a 2002 Freelander SE for a 2003 4Runner SR5 about a month ago and I can tell you from personal experience that the Freeloader does not handle anywhere near as well as the 4Runner in snowy conditions. We have not had much snow this year in the Northeast but I have been through 2...
