4th gen frame swap, anyone done it? GRAPHIC CONTENT!

Do you have a thread going over this or some general pointers at all? I've been working up to it for about 6 months and my current plan is to knock it out between my summer and fall classes. Had a couple deals on frames fall through so I'm hoping the one I just emailed on today works out.

    Bilstein 5100 - 0.85 or 1.75? Pics?

Good to hear that it worked! Honestly it's so easy once you've done it for the first time.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

What's up with the black bumper? In any case, looks good, you'll definitely be happy with it!

DIY: Power Steering Flush (4th gen specific)

Nevermind, got it figured out. Also cleaned the ever living crap out of the reservoir, it was nasty! Steering feels much smoother and is much lighter than before in the last half turn before lock. I'm happy.

DIY: Power Steering Flush (4th gen specific)

Thank goodness for this thread! Popped the cap on my seemingly well-filled reservoir, and sure enough there's nothing in there except a little black fluid right at the very bottom! Gonna flush it out and clean the gross reservoir. I went to the local auto parts store and they didn't have any...

    Mpg

On this topic, I certainly don't mind doing a conversion for calculating fuel economy (I calc by hand at the pump anyways, so what's one more number), but has anybody actually recalibrated their odometer to account for larger tires? I tend to like to have little things like that sorted out if...

    Bilstein 5100 - 0.85 or 1.75? Pics?

You can just remove the nut from the top of the shock, lower the LCA with a jack, and the shock will be separated from the coil just like that, leaving the shock mount bolted to the shock tower.

    Bilstein 5100 - 0.85 or 1.75? Pics?

You can use a jack to lower the LCA in a controlled fashion to dissasemble the shock. It's called the no spring compressor method, I'll try to find the how-to and link it for ya.

Hunting Down a Frame - Moab

As the title suggests, I'm in need of a frame around Moab, but here's the catch: the guy who's going to be picking it up for me won't be there until April. My 4Runner needs a new frame (I'm in Michigan; also, not urgent but I'd rather have a sweet rolling chassis ready to go, so I'm buying...

4x4 PSA: Use it or lose it monthly reminder

I was so confused until I read your sig and saw you have a Trail Edition, haha. That's good! If I had a TE and the rear locker didn't work I'd be pretty upset. Gotta go see what you can crawl over now!

    My 4th gen build

Unique look; I dig it! Hopefully the look doesn't go to crap; after seeing it like that, sure would be a shame to paint it black.

    NYC-Runner Build Thread

I came to this thread for snorkel info - didn't find much, but I did find a great read. Binged all 48 pages, and really enjoyed seeing the build progress, especially the side aspects like your welding work. Living in Michigan there isn't a lot of legit wheeling to do (we have tons of legal...

    Awesome, thank you much.

will be buying my 1st 4runner, what to look for?

Can't really see it very well in the pic, overall the pic hardly shows frame at all. I can't really say if it looks good or bad, but given the condition of the components I can see fairly well I'd say this one looks pretty good. I'd check specifically on the passenger side top of the frame...
