    RR defroster + wiper

Recently my rear window defrost button would not light up, and the rear window defroster stopped working. This circuit also controls the heaters in the side mirrors. Was getting ready to bring it in for warranty work, when I found this thread. Sure enough, after lowering and raising the rear...

    wind noise

jeober, I'd be interested to know the part number on your windshield. I also have a 2005, and the part number in the lower driver's side corner is "NSG-M311" (the bottom row of numbers). I looked at the part number on the windshield of a 2006, and the part number was "NSG-M411". Since...

    Windshield question

Anyone know if the thicker 2006 4Runner windshield glass will fit the 2005? Overall I'm very happy with my 2005, except for the wind noise from the thin windshield glass. I'd be willing to pay to have the dealer swap the glass, if possible.

    2006 4Runner changes

One caution re tubular steps I just wanted to post my experiences in regard to tubular step bars, since I see the '06 sport model now has them. I previously had an '02 Tundra, and added aftermarket step tubes (Manik), and the things were simply a MAGNET for crud in the winter. The snow and...

Update on the driver seat movement on 03-05 Runners

I have an '05 SE with cloth seats and have this problem too (driver's seat shifts/pops, especially when turning). It's an obvious problem because I can grab and shake the bottom of the seat while standing next to the truck, and there is clearly a rattle, but when doing the same on the front...

    Automatic door lock/unlock

The trick is that you have to "toggle" the current setting (to "off") before programming the new setting. Without doing this the new setting won't work, and the computer will just keep the old setting. I think.

    Automatic door lock/unlock

FINALLY got this to work, thanks to this thread. Bobby is right, you have to hold it down for 5 seconds exactly. Now, maybe I count slow, but when I counted to 5, sometimes the system confirmed the reprogramming, other times it didn't. But when I count to 4, it works every time. So maybe it...

    05 Spoiler vs. 04 Spoiler

Dammit iForce, you changed camps! Earlier in this thread I thought you were "anti-spoiler"?? ;): Maybe I'll just have to take mine off and live with it for a while. As they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I just never thought that would apply to spoilers on 4Runners... :)

    05 Spoiler vs. 04 Spoiler

Well, of course these styling questions are always very opinionated, but for what it's worth, the 2005 4Runner brochure does not have a single picture of the spoiler. Not a one. Doesn't look like Toyota.com does either. For what it's worth.

    05 Spoiler vs. 04 Spoiler

Does anyone really know if these spoilers, either the '03-'04 or '05 versions, are all that effective at blowing snow or dust off the rear window, or keeping the exhaust from blowing in?? I ask because I'm in the "butt-ugly" camp -- I really think the styling of these spoilers sux big time --...

can GX470 windshield be installed in a 4Runner?

Hello all. Proud new T4R owner here. I'm loving it, except for one thing: wind noise. I get a LOT of wind noise when driving 50+, and of course even more into a headwind. Now, from what I've read on this forum, the GX470 windshield is thicker than the 4Runner's, supposedly to make it "Lexus...

    wind noise

Well, you're right about what we are used driving. I also have an '02 BMW 325i, which I realize isn't fair to compare, but I also used to drive an '03 Tundra V8 4WD (traded it in on the T4R). Surprisingly, the Tundra was quite a bit quieter when driving at highway speeds, and I guess that is...

    wind noise

A lot of people have complained about wind noise on the 4th-gen trucks (including myself!). The best explaination I've heard is that Toyota, apparently trying to save a buck, chose to use thinner windshield glass than in the past. As a result, the turbulence caused by the rain channels along...
