Ah, I actually did see that ad before. The rust holes frighten me though. Seems there is quite a bit of V8s available in this area. Might take a look at those. Do you know if those engines are as reliable at the V6?

Hamilton area. Where's the truck listed? Although 350K is pretty high. The one I'm looking at is 260...but more rust... I agree with you. Might start looking at 4th gens....

Keep us posted. I'm sort of in the same boat as you (and also in Ontario) - but the one I'm looking at has more KM, and by the looks of it, more body rust. So far I just took a quick look at it, but I'll likely get a shop to check it out before I decide.

Another vote for the 1Up racks, Have a 2 bike rack for quite a while now. Easy to get extra parts as well, had to switch from a 2" to a 1.25 hitch and could just order the lower part of the rack. Got myself a Fatbike, so needed extenders for the wider tires, no problem. Solid rack.

Not to hijack this thread, but if you bring your car/truck to one of those places that spray against rust, do they actually clean the frame first, or do they just lay it on whatever crap is on there?

Love this. Looking at a 2000 myself, and it's in way worse shape. Gives me an idea what to expect. Not scared off yet, but I'll have it checked by a mechanic to make sure the frame is not rotted out. That's my main concern with the salt here in Ontario.

That red one needs a new frame? Or am I misunderstanding. It seems to be a great shape?

Do you have any idea what it would cost to have a shop do that repair? I'm looking at a 2000 that is for sale that has (worse) rust in the same spot, and I wonder if I should walk away. I can do basic maintenance, but replacing body panels is above my skill level :)

Wow, those are some impressive fabrication skills. Bumper looks great! Do you have anymore pics of the work on the rockers? I'm looking at a 2000 SR5 right now, and it has running boards. I'm pretty sure the rockers behind it are gone so I'm trying to gauge what I can expect when I take them...
