Grab an extra piece of vac hose, start truck, attach vac hose to top of EGR valve top hat. Put hose in mouth, and tap on side of EGR right below tophat, while sucking and releasing vac, try not to stall it out completely. Listen to rocks fall down into oil pan. Drive normally again

Did you try tapping the starter solenoid with a broom handle or the jack handle ? This is usually the connecting wires between the alternator and the engine compartment fuse box. Be careful with the connection on bottom of fuse box, it is very prone to breakage...

check the wires to alt and fusebox, they are known to fail.
