I would take a look at the new Bilstien coils (they came out recently). they are designed to match the 6112's and 5160's. I think the 1" lift (1-1.5") in the rear would take you back to almost a stock rake. Which is fine in my opinion as it gets rid of the nose dive which plagues the stock...

Yes I think it's obviously better than stock but my wife says she can't tell a difference except for the nose dive. I have had them on my Tacoma for a year now and they are so awesome.

Finally installed 6112's today on clips 5 & 3 to level it out and improve the ride.:rockon: I anticipate they will settle a little lower but I think it's sitting level.

I'm sure that would work just fine. I want to keep my factory coil over set intact. I purchased new "top hats" so I don't have to tear them apart.

That was my major concern, I really screwed the coating up on the springs. My 2010 Tacoma's frame was replaced due to rust so I am highly sensitive to corrosion prevention. They would rust here for sure.

Problem solved, I found a new set of springs on eBay! Now I just need to take them to a qualified shop for assembly. I'm done trying to do that myself! :thanks:

I believe you, and that makes sense. I've never seen powder coating peeled off a spring before. The peelings really look and feels like plastic. That begs the question - what paint sticks to powder coating?

I used Powerbuilt Strut Tool and Strut Coil Compressor Kit - 641429. It's rated for 400 pounds so I thought it would be ok if I compressed enough coils slightly rather than fewer coils severely. My compressor began to bend and I couldn't get is loosened before it shot the spring out. The safety...

The springs have some kind of rubberized coating on them. I'm not sure paint would stick? I thought about getting them re coated or maybe powder coated. My main concern is salty winter roads and rust.
