Turns out a bad spark in cylinder 3 due to carbon. They changed plugs and did a tune up. Works like a champ now.

The bucking is like skipping. It jolts. Cruising seems ok at speeds of 70 mph. Below 60 it'll buck a bit. It's really more about the rpms being at 2000 or so. It does seem sluggish if I try to really accelerate.

It does. The truck supposedly got all new plugs and wires when I bought it... but I've read these trucks are finicky about plugs and wires. I'm thinking it may be a coil pack. They are def original to 2002.

Any other ideas out there?

First off thanks! Ok. The coils come in sets of 3 so I would just replace them all. I'm going to clean the sensor either way as maintenance. It's an easy fist step. Then I'll see if my brother in law can pull something at work with his scanner.

I'm going to clean the MAF sensor and throttle body. Check plugs and wires and go from there.

No CEL either.

I was just researching online and there's a lot of talk about MAF, coil packs, plus and wires, O2 sensor. I just bought this truck used from a dealer 3 mos ago. They did plugs, wires, and timing belt. There was an issue shortly after the timing belt... for some reason the serpentine belt and...

The truck runs perfect otherwise. It just bucks when accelerating onto the hw or up hills. Sometimes shifting off OD helps... idles at 500 rpm. Smoothly.

I have a 02 Sport that is intermittently bucking. Happens around 50-60 mph and on hills. Truck runs smoothly otherwise. Any ideas? Thanks!
