After reading some horror stories of the rings holding mud and causing rim damage from debris caught between the ring and the rim. I may be forced to go without the ring

I know this thread is a little old, but I was hoping to get some advice. I installed these rims and am going back and forth between rings vs. no rings. It took a while, but I found some lock nuts that fit the thread (M8-1.0). Any thoughts?
