    Timing belt life

Thanks for the reminder. I need to inspect my belt before a road trip. "Rubber" products like belts, tires, boots, are more susceptible to time, heat, chemical and UV exposure. In aviation maintenance this would be considered a Life Limited Part. On tires you have a decipherable date code to...

Back Door (liftgate) outer weatherstrip R&R

The two piece liftgate outer weatherstrip has shrunk leaving gaps around the glass. I did a search but didn't find exactly what the R&R process was. If you know of a helpful link I would appreciate it. Otherwise if you've done it yourself, I'd appreciate any info. After ordering the wrong...

    3rd gen vs 4th gen - in 2026?

Rust is always a dealbreaker for me. I'm a diehard V8 guy with gas engines. In a truck or SUV I go for torque, not revs. I'm so glad I went for the bump. It's so well matched to the tranny. I consistently get 20-21 mpg mixed city and highway with it. Coming from an I6 Jeep CJ, that's a heckuva...

    Door Seal

I'm going to do this soon on my rear doors that have been damaged by my German Shepherd. I'd also appreciate it if anyone with experience would chime in. Looking at the very vague parts diagrams, I'd imagine that the little spiky christmas tree fasteners would be enough to hold it in place...

current cargo carpet mat smaller than original

I like WeatherTech too but for my application the video and music instrument cases load better by sliding on the carpet. There's usually enough gear that, once loaded, there's not much room for cargo to shift.

current cargo carpet mat smaller than original

Bummer. Thanks!! I ran the part # on several Toyota parts sites and it comes up as "discontinued". I guess that's Toyota's version of "NLA".

current cargo carpet mat smaller than original

My original cargo carpet mat had become very stained and the rubber backing on t was disintegrating into small black flecks. I order Toyota part # PT548-89032-11 as a replacement. Roughly $60. I haul music and video equipment in my 4R and rubber mats don't allow the equipment to slide in and...

    2004 4Runner Headlight Lens Replacement

I know in the aviation world they have good results with the micro-mesh kits but it takes a lot of patience as they start with 1500 grit and work up to 6000. FWIW mine were too far gone to consider sanding. I bit the expensive bullet and bought the OE parts. They fit good and look good. I used...

    Rear windshield wiper suddenly inop

After I posted this I came across this post Rolling the rr window all the way down, then all the way up fixed the problem. <<<DISREGARD>>> Rear windshield wiper and washer suddenly went inop last week. The rr window rolls up and down OK. In dash 15A fuse checks OK. I disconnected the motor...

Best aftermarket replacement for OE headlights?

I did a search on this subject but all I found were "upgrades". HID and Xenon and such. My original lens have cataracts and aren't as effective as they need to be. As much as I believe in OE parts, I just can't afford to go OE in this instance. What's the best quality aftermarket halogen...

what extra parts needed for headlight install?

I'm going to replace my cracked and crazed OE headlights with a TYC 206400600 set. What extra parts do I need (seals? plastic clips that break? brackets or grommets? I hate to have to run out for some chickensh!t parts in the middle of a project.

    is premium fuel worth it?

Bought my 4R V8 in SoCal in '04. Ran 87 octane in it (usually from Costco) all the time. No problems never a knock. Good pep and power. Probably equal in acceleration and speed to a Cop Car V8 Crown Vic. We have non ethanol premium here in Arkansas now but I never run it in my 4R. I save the...
