    Autorust Safe t-cap system

I filled out that form yesterday and already received a callback from the representative to submit more information. If anyone has a rusty 4th gen frame, please fill out that form and get some momentum to force Toyota's hand. Also advised to keep paperwork and receipts of repairs and...

    Autorust Safe t-cap system

Price is definitely affordable With respect to the ongoing class-action suit Do you own a 4th generation 4Runner? - Bell Legal Group Any tips/advice on whether I should DIY or get a shop to do it so that there's a paper trail for a possible reimbursement in a few years?

3rd Gen 4Runner Automatic Transmission Slipping?

Piggy backing this thread. Apologies for the long read, look for the (PROBLEM STARTS HERE) part. Noticed some strange behaviour this winter with regards to the atx and cold weather. Fortunately/unfortunately, living in a condo right at the intersection of the two largest freeways here in...

    Rotary Clay Pads and Technique

I do recall seeing clay discs for dual action polishers once upon a time, but all the non-playdoh claying mediums are for shops that may be doing multiple cars a day and are overkill/cost more than simple clay. More likely than not, they are following mechanical claying with machine...

    Car Wash Products

Never heard of it, I'm sure it's the same 'drying aid' as the other 100+ similar products from various companies. "Drying" aids, aka, spray waxes are not new and every detailing company has their own version. 90% the same product, just varying colors/smells minute chemical composition. What...

    Car Wash Products

I respect that type of dedication on a 4Runner, I really do, but you're probably better off washing with a rinseless wash and microfibers at that point instead of binning 1+ washmitt per wash. If dirty enough, I presume you are powerwashing off most of the dirt before even touching the paint...

    Car Wash Products

The actual car wash soap doesn't matter a whole lot. Two bucket washes/foam cannons if you wish Claybar/claymit/claytowels Machine polishing is the most significant change (optional on off road vehicle) Wax/Sealant: I recommend any si02 "hybrid ceramic" coatings. You can now buy one from Turtle...

How fast is too fast for a 5th gen?

No such thing as too fast, but there certainly is an argument for "too fast for OEM brakes". throw in "too fast for OEM brakes on considerably lousier AT/MT compound" then a sprinkle of "too fast for OEM brakes + AT/MT compound + loaded up with weight from (insert offroad/overlanding gear) All...

What Do You Use to Clean Your Coil-Overs?

Looks grim-ier than regular dirt. Might need basic degreaser with some agitation. If you really wanna go OCD, I'd use some "spray and rinse with high pressure" waxes like Turtle Wax Seal and shine/Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic/Mothers CMX for easier cleanup "next time". Stupid easy to apply, no need...

    255/75-17 too narrow?

Looks wise, I think it visually isn't as "Beefy" as many would like. Main issue is that throwing on 32" MT's are a lot of weight, and the compound itself leads to all round worse on-road manners. Louder, less grippy (compared to OEM sized HT or AT's like the K02 on pavement), harsher ride due...

How long do you let your 4Runner warm up?

Sounds like none of you have to deal with an atx that doesn't shift beyond 2nd gear until it's "warmed up". Warmed up = when the auto climate actually starts to ramp up and push warm air. I'm sure I have somewhat suspect shift solenoids, but I just live with it and take the long route out of the...

Modern Headlight and Bulb Options for 03-05

+1 Realistically, they have a lot of B-stock that their/competitor factories push out on other channels for way cheaper (less the obvious Q&A). Do check out the OEM setup with just a crystal clear lens after polish and film. It makes such a big difference that for the 3 or so years I put off...

Modern Headlight and Bulb Options for 03-05

I just get a roll off amazon. Just measure the height of the housing, add 2 inches and measure x2 the width of the housing. 4th gen's are easy to apply with a bit of heat to stretch for curves, and a bit of heat + warm flathead to seal/tuck the edges.

Modern Headlight and Bulb Options for 03-05

Simply refreshing the lens to clear makes a BIG difference to light on the road (where it was engineered to be, not after being scattered through a cloudy lens. I once had a Civici with the early MiniH1's from TRS installed, intense light for sure on the road, but not a "night and day"...
