    Battery Relocation

This is exactly what I did. I actually run everything off of the stock battery and use the passenger side mounted battery as essentially a backup starter battery. The batteries are automatically connected when charging via a Blue Sea solenoid and can be force connected via a button in the...

Anyone Regret Their Gobi on a DD?

It made virtually no difference for me, but I am already running a 2.5" lift, and 285 tires which did hurt the gas mileage quite a bit.

Dual Compressor Mount for drivers side engine bay?

I've been looking at the slee mount and I seriously doubt you can get a tank in there with the cable harnesses and fluid reservoir there, unless it is a .5 gallon tank or something. Wheel well is the way to go if you can figure out how to fab up a mount. Found the link, here is a 2.5 gallon...

Dual Compressor Mount for drivers side engine bay?

Somewhere on the forum there is a post describing how to get a 5 gallon tank to fit in the drivers side wheel well. It is cavernous up there above the fender liner.

    Crossmember - Broken Welded Nuts

Worst case, you can just buy a new cross-member for $180 and bolt it in. If I am looking at the right one. I think it is part number 51204-60210 but you should check with the dealer. Still no fun getting the skid plate and cross member off in the first place though.

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

Are you going to spring for the Premium, or just the base Off Road?

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

To be clear, the VIN itself does not necessarily encode the trim level, so a VIN decoder may not be able identify the trim level. However, the manufacturer does have the extra data, which is what you see from Toyota's website. Here is a discussion of what the various parts of the VIN mean...

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

This is not true. Here is a VIN for a TRD Pro for sale in Texas: JTEBU5JR4J5486867 Enter it at this site https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification. It comes up as a TRD Pro. The manufacturer knows exactly what model and factory equipment is on every VIN and a dealer (or anyone in...

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

It is really hard to judge trail difficulty in a picture, but those pictures look like they'd be no issue for a stock OR or Pro as long as you put good a/t tires on it (generally, the a/t will have better ice traction, the m/t better mud and deep snow traction). The stock OR tires will not cut...

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

Oops, I missed the fact that you can't test drive. If you are mostly on-road, I'd get the ORP with KDSS and at the minimum swap to a proper A/T tire like a BFG TA/KO2 or Duratracs, or Open Country C/T or similar. Both vehicles are extremely capable off road and can be modified to be even more so.

2018 TRD Pro or Offroad and KDSS question

This has been covered before on the forum so a search can get you more detail. In a nutshell, you should test drive an off-road with and without KDSS to see what you prefer or can tolerate. I can't stand the on-road handling without KDSS, I can deal with the on-road manners with. I test drove...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Not quite today, but I finished this project up this weekend - fogs and winch.

    Looking for Build opinions

The main question is what do you want to do with the truck? It is never going to be a competitive rock crawler unless you go the T40R route :) The standard TRD Pro has lots of ground clearance for driving off road and decent tires (I think, compared to all the other 4runners which really...

285 spare tire location with KDSS

Things you did not know about your 4runner

If you remove the cover for the jack and tire change toolkit, you can actually see the otherside of the fuel line (at least that is what I think it is in there).
