Bilstein 5100s on 2016 Limited (removing XREAS)

Looks good! Did 5100's with the front set at 2.5" and a 1" cornfed spacer in the back on my 2015 limited a couple years ago. Still rolling stock wheels and tires but I think the extra trim on the limited does make it look like it's riding a little lower Before After

Has anyone figured out a solution to the excessive downshifting in cruise control

I haven't but hope someone does. Have a ~3 hour drive I do a dozen times a year with the 4R loaded up with family and weekend worth of clothes and gear and I've just learned where I have to turn it off so it doesn't kick down a gear or two. Have found that if I drive closer to 80 than 70 it's...

General cost to remove XREAS and add normal shocks?

Very rough estimate, $500-700 for struts/springs/etc then $2k-4k depending on what the shop costs per hour of labor. Could be as low as $2500 out the door, could be $5000.

    Need suspension help/advice

Kept the stock toyota springs on front and back, top clip on the 5100's up front. My understanding is that using the top perch provided the lift, the springs wouldn't need to be changed unless I was adding weight or going long travel. Initially the truck rode fine but was 'darty' on the highway...

    Need suspension help/advice

'15 Limited, did 5100's all around with the front on the top setting for a ~2.5" lift and 1" cornfed spacer in the rear, stock springs. That got it almost level, 1" or so of rake measuring wheel well to hub. That's what the pics are below, have since swapped the 1" spacer for a 1.5". Shop was...

    I'm done with AT Tires

+1 for the Defenders. All around great tire. Don't do a whole lot of off-roading but they've never disappointed in sketchy conditions.

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Been nursing a ~5 year old battery since last spring so I picked up a 27f True Start and a NOCO tray. Surprisingly the 27f was actually $10 cheaper than the smaller 24f.

    2012 Limited should I buy

There's your carfax, looks like it was a regular at Bohn Toyota carfax.com Definitely check the x-reas shocks. The set on my '07 were still from the factory when I sold it at 160k miles, but started failing at 70k on my '15. Otherwise it looks to be extremely well taken care of inside and out.

Glass Replacement / Safelite - Things to know?

Was in the same position about 6 months ago, dump truck dropped a golf ball sized rock while I was doing ~70 that hit about 3 inches from the bottom of the windshield. Had chips and dust all over my dash. Safelite guy came to the house and did the job in 90 minutes or so. Haven't noticed any...

Limited - Black out the rear tailgate garnish

I think plasti dip is probably best bang for your buck. Since you mentioned de-chroming your limited, check the link below. I put the front and sides on mine last spring and have been happy. The vinyl comes in a big sheet with the pieces pre-cut, I had plenty leftover to do the bumper trim piece...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Rear brake pad change, swapped out the cornfed 1" spacers on the rear springs for 1.5" and finally installed the BOTCK I bought a year ago.

How bad is the dealer gonna F me...?

I'd say time for a 2nd opinion. I had my local Toyota dealer tell me they couldn't align my '15 because the cam bolts were froze (despite previous alignments being done twice in the last three years) and that they'd need to cut the lower arms off and replace them at a cost close to $3k...

5th Gen LImited x-reas delete for road use

I'll agree with the Defenders as a potential future replacement. My '15 Limited had a fresh set on them when I bought it ~3 years ago. Have no complaints. Great on pavement, reasonable road noise, never made me feel uncomfortable in rain, minimal wear after 30k miles. I don't off road hard but...

    Bouncy Suspension Options

Yeah the 5100/4600's would just need to have the front springs switched over from the old shocks to the new. Let them know you have the x-reas since they may charge extra to remove that, if it's ridiculous you can ask them to just cut and clamp the lines as it's only about an hour job to do in...

    New 4Runner Pricing

Seems like it's been that way here in metro Detroit for a while. The few nearby Toyota dealerships that I keep an eye on will have 1-3 at a time but show 6-10 in production or transit. Have heard they don't do specific build orders so you basically have to tell them what you're looking for and...
