    Help identifying source of sound

check the fasteners on the splash guards in the front wheel wells. They sometimes have some play, and will rattle around and make noise at higher speeds. I wrapped some material around the fasteners to take up the slop before I switched to RAD rubber aftermarket splash guards

    hard shifter lever

I had the same issue. Sometimes the "D" wouldn't light up on the dash. I had the neutral safety switch replaced at toyota during the winter (I wasn't fighting with that in my slushy driveway) and it fixed the problem completely. I asked to see the old switch, and it was heavily corroded, just...

    High Output Alternator

I don't know for certain about any changes in 2018 and beyond, but I do recall a few years ago some folks has issues with blowing the main 140A fuse, which is a bugger to replace. Some of the folks who shared their experience had installed a high-output alternator. The desire for a HO...

    Neutral Safety Switch

thanks for the great thread, part numbers, experiences removing the NSS. I've had a sticky shifter for about a year. I tried lubing the cable from both ends, and the actuator at the transfer case. It went away briefly, but came back with a vengeance. I called my favorite dealer and asked if...

    Metal Shift Knob Question

I love my Ellis precision knobs. They get hot and very cold. The transfer case one gets especially cold in the winter. When my special lady friend tries to grab my hand, I put her hand on the freezing cold t-case knob and hold it there. I swear, that’s the meanest thing that I do. Also...

Spherical bearing replacement - is there a 'how-to'?

The sphericals definitely wear out and require replacement, so your next move is a good one in my opinion. For mounting the shin washer; I completely removed my bottom bearing and misalignment spacer from the post on the axle, added the shim washer, and then mounted the shock on the post...

Spherical bearing replacement - is there a 'how-to'?

I replaced my spherical bearings, and I still had the clunk you described. I found it in the exact same way. On my truck, there is a tiny amount of slop on the rear post that the misalignment spacer attaches to. When the lower bolt is tightened completely, there is still room for the shock to...

    Groaning creaking sound

I’m assuming you have aftermarket coil overs if you have total chaos UCAs. When was the last time you changed the lower spherical bearing on your coilovers?

Lots of rust after 6.5 years

2015 in eastern Canada. We have indoor wash bays here, which I use very often in the wintertime. I also use an undercarriage "water broom" on my pressure washer in the summertime. I also keep the engine bay clean. I touch up the underside every spring and fall. A bit of fluidfilm here, a...

    Excessive Toe-out Rear Alignment

I had a bent rear axle housing when someone drown in to my rear tire at an intersection. It wasn't caught initially until they tried to align it. I agree with the above-- it needs a good review on a rack. A bent axle housing is not unheard of--- I recall others on this forum had it happen...

2015 TRD Pro - Broke front spring? (broke while parked in garage)

nobody said all shocks need replacement after 5 years. I mean in spite of this vehicle only having 30,000 miles, they are still 5 years old, and not brand new.

    Help!!! filter housing stuck

I also hand tighten mine. Go until the tab lines up. It's quite easy. I had mine stuck, the tabs ripped off, and the entire thing tore apart as I tried everything to remove it. The threaded part remained. In the end, I spent hours with an old soldering iron, melting away at the threaded...

    Portable air compressor idea

I've got a smittybilt in a duffelbag. can't be beat. I can do 8 tires in the blazing sun with it before it needs to take a break. 5.65 CFM beats the hell out of a 1 gal tank and whatever that 20lb thing flows.
