I managed to pick up a set 18 trail take offs for $400 out the door from a dealer here in NC. About the same as I'm finding online.

Hatteras and Ocracoke are fun. However. You now need an ORV permit to drive on the beach now. Gotta take a ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke. The island is fun but not truly touristy https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/permitsandreservations.htm#ORV

That's pretty firm for Hatteras. Ocracoke, the next island south, can be substantially softer. Looking forward to getting out there this summer.
