CV bind
I only saw one comment about CV bind & this was not addressed. GX470 with 3” lift. Had bad vibration on acceleration before installing diff drop. Much better now that I installed the diff drop. It was & is CV bind. My factory CV shafts bind at full droop. I’d NEVER take my diff drop out...
Trip report. I had both front & rear sway bars off for a couple of weeks. It was doing a wibble wobble coming off bridges at HWY speeds. We went to WY this weekend & I threw the rear sway bar back on before we left. It was better but not enough. I’ll be putting the front one back on. It would go...
Note that at the start of the thread I say stock height, not stock suspension...
Got it. Basically at the stock height you do not have room for a shock/spring combo that can travel as far as a lifted shock/spring. Also an aftermarket UCA can provide a bit more travel. Thanks!
I guess the whole premise of this is. I have not seen a 4Runner, at stock height tubbed for a larger tire. My idea is a truck with the shocks to handle all of the suspension travel, sway bars either modified or deleted to accommodate max travel. I may Ben getting into the weeds here. It may take...
Yea, this pretty much sums it up for me. The whole point of me thinking I may convert my truck back to stock height was me just wanting my tires to stay planted on the ground. Thanks guys!
Well I ****ed up. I either did not get all of the instructions with my Spartan, or they just have piss poor ones. Anyway. Drove my rig to town today with locker installed. It was basically a spool. Started doing a little more research & found some instructions on Randy’s Ring & Pinion web sight...
I guess this is more along what I’m thinking. NOT SURE yet but I think belly clearance will not be as big a deal as stability & maximum articulation. My thoughts are stock height with 35’s & tubbed to accommodate the tire. Then I can play with shocks, sway bars, & balljoints to get a little...
Great info. My rig has about what I would guess is 2” of lift. I was thinking about getting some used stock stuff to experiment with. I did notice on mine that the weight of being loaded for a trip makes it stick to the ground a lot better. I’m planning on building bumpers, sliders & racks as...
Kind of debating this in my head. All other factors aside, (tire fitment) (ground clearence).
What is the best ride height/shock set up for the 3rd gen 4Runner? In my mind a stock height rig with a quality shock will outperform a lifted truck offroad. The added drop of the stock suspension will...
