Power Brake Booster died and they want $850? Should I do it?

I just replaced the booster on my 86 Turbo. it was almost impossible to find, so I had it rebuilt here: http://www.pwrbrake.com/ Fortunately, they are about 45 minutes from me. I drove it down and waited for them to do it-about 1 hour. The good news? $130.00! It took about 45 minutes to an hour...

    COB's 87 4Runner Turbo

Man, what a great project! You've done an amazing job of bringing this beauty back to life. I had a question(I'm sure you've covered this somewhere, but I can't find it yet...)- I recently got an 86 Turbo, and it has that oxidized red removable top like your did. It looks like you found a cool...

    Finally-86 Turbo on the road!

Yeah, my impression is that this thing is made to work. Nothing fussy, just functional. I think that's the appeal to me.

Seats and door panels are original, but worn, the rear is good. I'll post some pics.

It is. In fact, the whole thing is original- and no rust!

    Finally-86 Turbo on the road!

It's a really fun ride! I haven't driven a non-turbo one in a while, but the turbo lag and whoosh of(moderate) power is pretty cool. I can pull hills easily. It's just about right for a dude like me!

    Other vehicles you have owned?

I've owned a bunch-when I was young, I'd often buy cars really cheap(you could actually do that!), fix them and drive them. Here are the ones i remember: 1960 Plymouth Valiant 1962 Chevy II wagon 1965 Valiant wagon 1959 Citroen ID 19 1968 Citroen ID 19 1963 Citroen ID19 wagon 1970 Citroen DS 21...

    Finally-86 Turbo on the road!

I got this 86 Turbo early this year. The car was pretty rough, but the cool thing I discovered once I began working on it was that it was all original-paint, interior, drivetrain, etc. Being a California car, it was also rust-free(well, except around the base of the windshield posts where the...

4Runner Turbo is rare, bulletproof, and in high demand

I have an 86 turbo-it's an auto, too. To my knowledge, all turbos that vintage were autos. My guess is that the transmission choice might be due to emission requirements then-especially here in California.

    86 turbo removal question

Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to remove the turbo from my 86. The shop guides all indicate that the way to do this is to remove the turbo along with the exhaust manifold. Is is possible to remove the turbo from underneath and leave the manifold in place? Thanks!

smoky 86 turbo-any turbo rebuild kits available?

Yes,it's a C20. I'm in the same situation that you were-brand new rebuild, and kablooey! Is it a bolt-up, or is there a conversion kit? Thanks for the reply!
