Where did this idea of a Toyota branded GX550 come from? Because Carmaker1's post only talks about Lexus branding. He doesn't mention anything about it being carried over to Toyota.....unless I missed something.

Correct. This is why the most reliable info out there (from people like Carmaker1) is that the 6th gen will be getting the 2.4 single turbo from the Lexus NX.
