toyota crown is the executive class of toyota sedans (ie: it usually means the person that owns the vehicle has a chauffeur and is mostly sold in japan only and some Asian markets). the usa equivalent is the lexus LS series with the executive package

and all that cost saving goes out the window when you have to ship all the parts centralized in japan to build all the other models to NA for just 1 model. if they didnt ship the parts to NA, then they would have find another source closer to usa to build all the parts for the NA model.

personally i dont see the 4R moving production outside of tahara plant due to the retooling and parts supply logistics. when all the other models based on the same platform is made in japan, it wouldnt make long term financial viability to moved a single model to the usa and find a production...

actually the 4runner is made in the tahara plant only. the hi-lux is made in the hino plant edit: guess i was wrong, hi-lux hasnt been made at the hino plant since 2005, it completely moved production outside of japan. the prado is still made along side the 4runner in the tahara plant

4runner wont get any engine option of the gx, it steal sales from the GX, hence the reason the v8 in 4runner was dropped since the gx was just a glorified 4runner with the same engine.

well thanks for the info on the MY24 pushback @Carmaker1 . works out wonderfully for my budget timeline of jan-2023 of buying a new 4runner and dragging my 2014 (dec-2013) 4runner limited along for a few more years. only thing we have to decide is whether we trade in our 2018 platinum tundra...

um you do realize nothing from the LC will come down to the 4runner or the GX. the new LX600 is the exact same vehicle as the 2022 LC.

people need to stop beating this dead horse. the v8 was dropped from the 4runner lineup from toyota as a financial decision so as to no cut into the GX series sales. if you want a v8, toyota expected you to step up to the lexus brand (ie: more profit for toyota per vehicle).

well for $175 you can get specific led's for the low beam from lasfit. if yo wanted to replace high/fogs you could probably do all of them for under $600. way cheaper than trying to refit the new led housing into the current halogen housings. i am guessing probably $900+ for the new housings...
