I was in Centennial, WY headed east towards 80. The highways were closed for weather sunday. Pretty brutal. Hwy 130 was a sheet of ice. Glad I wasn't on a freeway when this happened!

The Dealer I bought it from (a Subaru dealer) sent it to a Toyota dealer who said the front diff basically exploded. Ring gear shattered sounds like. Awesome. In a rare twist of good fortune, the dealer is going to pay to get it fixed! Who knows where they'll get the parts...
Hmmm. Broken teeth sounds ominous. I just hope the dealer doesn't try to make me pay for it. It was within the 3 day return period. Hopefully they'll get it fixed for me!

Aha. So I have learned the difference between awd and 4wd. Thanks. Yes, it was all 4 green tires and I did not engage the diff lock (no orange light).
I should also note that I drove almost 180 miles home in 2wd no problem at all at speeds up to 75. Seems like it's a transfer case issue?

Noob here. I recently purchased my first 4runner last friday. It's a 2001.
Brief description of the event:
* Drove to Wyoming from Colorado no problem 200 miles
* Drove approximately 20 miles in 4H No problem
* Left out from the hotel for home in 4H
* Drove 5-10 miles down the rode...
