Either way, you will need to remove your front diff. It would be much less work to simply swap the front diff ranther then open yours up, open the other diff up, swap gears and then reinstall the diff again. You can drive safely in 2WD with the 4:30 diff in the rear. I would not use 4wd locked...

No, the electric motors just plug into the factory plug. It does NOT have the motor installed.

It does bolt up to a 3.4l yes, I do believe it bolts up because that's the same transmission on the 4runners also. I'm not sure the differences between the transfer case of a Tacoma and a 4Runner.
