Yep, its fussy. less than 18" or more than 36" is not good. I have a feeling I'm suffering from a somewhat common issue where the outer part of the cable stretches, effectively "pulling" the center copper wire into the cable and unable to make a connection. I'll be checking tonight though.

That's sort of what I was thinking...trimming the pillar side as necessary, but trimming the mirror side so that it can go under the mirror a little. Like you say though, likely unnecessary, and maybe not so much better as to make it worthwhile.

I'm going to +1 this. So far, the Elka 2.0's I just had installed are better than any setups I've used in the past for what OP is wanting.

Elka Suspension is in! Front struts and ECGS bushing has been installed. Have to admit, the ride quality of these struts is shocking...I wasn't expecting it to ride this well on the highway and washboard dirt roads. Just realized I made a pun there.

I bought my new Runner about a month ago, at a dealer out of town, with 18 kms on the ODO; on the 300km drive home it started groaning away. It goes in this week for the ECGS bushing, and some new Elka suspension (because why not hahaha).

I think I would have given these a try if I knew before I ordered my Elka's. I don't remember hearing anyone complain about KYB, and JAOS has a pretty solid reputation in a bunch or markets.
