Has VSC ever really come in handy for any of you on the forum?

No but the ABS definetly saved my front end and a deer's ace....

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

Thanks for the info, sounds like I'm good on both issues so that's nice. I dunno about the oil life monitor....I'll likely only own the thing for 2-3 oil changes and do them myself, at ym usual interval regardless, so probably a feature I'll never use haha

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

The e-brake seems like some soft-touch type setup? Feels like nothing's happening while pushing it, but it holds and releases normally. What's the fuel gauge issue you speak of? Mine seems to drop off overly-quick in the low 1/4 range?

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

I bought an 03 Sierra 1500 for a winter beater/sled/dirtbike hauler....extended cab, 5.3L, SLT, white on black leather. It's got absolutely all the BS in it....signal foldaway mirrors, onstar, 12-way memory seats, 8 bazillion trip/mileage/hour meters, BFG's, blah blah blah.... It's got so many...

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

We can bash and post smartass little snipets that tell the stories we want them to till the cows come home. In the end, it all comes down to if you're happy with what you've got. Hell, Thai even likes his Mercedes and those things are a trainwreck compared to Toyota in any recent VDS survey :D

2/1 Cornfed = Damage to Suspension

If you want it to wear and behave 100% stock, leave it 100% stock. That said, a 1 or 2" lift will have very minimal compromise and risk associated with it. I doubt anyone here has had one long enough to tell you what will happen in 200,000 miles that may or may not have happened regardless...

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

I think your logic is backwards. Toyota does "campaigns" on many issues that other companies would simply leave up to the customer. Such issues are not "recalls," because they are not safety related and not worthy of the inaccurate press they may recieve. Try bringing in your Caravan for a...

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

Toyota has issues too; any long-term enthusiast can name a few big ones from the past: 7M headgaskets, 3vz headgaskets, Previa wiper motors, etc. Nothing mechanical is perfect. It seems that along the way of Toyota becoming fully "mainstream," they picked up a bunch of buyers that were assumed...

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

The tranny issues are a more widespread, and documented as such. The Tundra's rating is a real cheap shot tho... They knew there was a specific problem with a specific number (a VERY low number) of trucks, they remedied it immediately and there have been no related problems since. That's a...

Consumer Reports rates Tundra 4x4 v8, Camry v6 and GS 430 poorly

Ehn, they seem to be getting a little silly and singling out those 20 Tundra 5.7's that had the cams replaced immediately. They don't recommend the V6 Camry's, but the exact same engine package is ok in the Avalon, Rav4, Highlander, and at least 3 Lexus'? Ok....LOL. Same with the "V8 Tundras,"...

Is the Sequoia as offroad Capable

4wd system, gearing, clearance, tire size and anything related to traction....yes Breakover angle will suffer from the extra wheelbase, tight trail performance will be hamperd by extra width, length, etc. The question is...what type of offroading are you honestly looking to do with it? If...

    Rock Chips on Rear Liftgate

Another way to get chips on the rear is sometimes they ship them facing backwards on a car carrier.... If you've had that 05 since new tho, I would assume you noticed earlier. Just an idea.

    BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A

I've had a few sets on various vehicles. They kick ass, look aggressive and barely add any road noise. I'd buy them and not look back...

Engine Heaters for sub zero climates

I've never used a block heater here in southern BC. Temps average around freezing to 10-15 below freezing, sometimes dipping much lower but only for a few days. If you're living somewhere that routinely hits -15-20 or less, it wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Full retail on the things is only...
