Try to find one with a SPAL fan, it's the same as what came with the B&M. The cheaper fans are notoriously unreliable. Are you going to bypass the factory transmission cooler? Are you worried about heat soak when idle and require a fan?

I don't remember mine smelling that bad at all, not nearly enough to warrant leaving the windows cracked or anything. Also if you want some real nasty chemicals you should see how they process actual leather.
