Hi toyotasurf and eurasiaoverland. Did either of you ever solve the problems you had - hesitation at low engine speeds? I have the same issue. Have been trying to fix it for a while and wonder if it's a knock sensor issue retarding the timing.

I'm having a similar problem with my 96 4Runner. The engine revs also get really low when it changes down gear coming to a stop. 500rpm or so, and the drivetrain shunts. I sent you a PM.
