Got a bluedriver obd reader and it's been really helpful with diagnostics. For your specific cym;tom, I swapped out my maf for a "Returned" maf on amazon and that resolved the issue straight away and was easy to do.

Scotty on youtube has a great diagnostic for misfires. You should be able to swap the coils, read the code and see the misfire "move" if that is really the problem.

My 2001 had the same issue. Cleaned the maf and hooked it up to a multimeter and everything was within spec's. I ordered "returned" maf on amazon hooked it up to a multimeter and it behaved differently than my old one. I put it in the car and symptoms resolved. Definitely try a new maf. FS...

Had this issue last summer. A new MAF resolved the issue for me.

My 2001 is factory original with 240k miles on it but regularly flushed it. My 2005 T4R had to be replaced at 140K(but I bought that one at 120K miles on it).
