    JustinB's '06 Build Thread

Thanks for the update. How has the bbq paint on your skid plates held up?

    Front camera for aftermarket grille

I got your message but I'll reply here. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I'm not on here very often either. I got my grille on aliexpress, but I think it's identical to the one that trail runner customer sells, and I also see it on ebay. I'm not sure about viewing angle because I never...

Where to buy 06+ HL assy endpiece

That "endpiece" isn't a separate part on 06+ models, the part in your pictures is just one piece. It's the same part as the 1st link in LOSTR4's post.

    Ashtray front swap 4th gen

I've got wireless Android Auto, so a wireless charger might be nice. I just wish the space was wide enough that the phone could be facing the driver. The cup holder would be a better location, but I actually use my cup holders. Still, it's not like I'm using the ash tray for anything else right now.

Drifting/pulling on highway - alignment issue?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's pulling to the side because the road isn't perfectly flat. I'm surprised by how much it's pulling, though. It's pulling a lot harder than before I replaced the UCAs and increased the caster. I know increasing caster is supposed to make the steering feel heavy, but I...

    Ashtray front swap 4th gen

I've been wondering the same thing. I've got a 3d printer and have been looking for small projects to get more practice with CAD. Of course, finding time is always a challenge. What about a small switch panel? I'm thinking something that could hold 2 or 3 of those round 12v toggle switches...

Drifting/pulling on highway - alignment issue?

Hey all, I'm having an issue where the truck wants to pull to the side at higher speeds - at 60mph I need to keep a constant force on the wheel to keep it going straight. It doesn't always pull in the same direction, and might be pulling towards the lower side of the road (ie. on perfectly a...

    Trail Braking

Just don't forget to turn it back on when you're on the highway/in traffic. Or wheeling with a group. Don't want to get rear-ended because your brake lights don't work. You could probably wire up a relay to control the brake lights without sending the signal to the ECU, though...

    Trail Braking

Strange, my 06 V6 4wd doesn't do that at all. I remembered about this post a couple weeks ago and pressed the brake fairly hard with my left foot while I was going a steady 40mph (in 2WD on dry asphalt) with my right foot on the throttle. Besides sliding forward in my seat, not much happened...

    Bleeding Brakes

The only reason I'm not convince it's the 5th gen calipers is I had the same problem with the 4th gen calipers.

    Bleeding Brakes

I did that when I installed the new calipers, but the brakes are still a little spongy. Not any worse than before, at least. And it definitely stops faster. Maybe I'm just overthinking this. Crack which lines? I've been planning on finding a dirt/gravel road to trigger the ABS. My problem...

    Bleeding Brakes

I just finished replacing my calipers, rotors, and pads (3 calipers were seized so I upgraded them all to 5th gen), and I'm having trouble following the bleeding procedure from the FSM, where you pump the pedal 40 times with the key off, then turn the key on and pump another 20 times. From what...

    Trail Braking

I'm curious, does it also cut at very low speeds? I've gotten out of ice/snow by braking a little while giving it gas (so the open diffs would send power to both sides) and didn't notice it cutting power at all.

    V6 leaking coolant

I got a new pump, thermostat, clutch, and hoses and installed them today. It looked like there might have been a couple pinhole leaks, one on the top right and the other on the bottom left. Also the pump had some play in the bearing so it was probably a good idea to replace it even if it wasn't...

    V6 leaking coolant

Good to know head gasket leaks are usually only internal... I also checked for combustion gasses in the radiator this morning and it looks OK. I replaced the belt a couple weeks ago and that's when I saw how much coolant was dried around the heads. I couldn't find the source, but it looked a lot...
