Rebuilt A340F Transmission with the dreaded "P0770" code

Hello fellow Toyota fam and to anyone who is reading this. I apologize if I am not posting in the correct area, I am new to the Forum. Well I bought a used 2002 Toyota 4Runner 4X4 that the owner was selling because of a transmission whine. I knew that I would end up changing out the transmission...

    Transmission fluid choice

Check the FSM (Factory service manual) and see what the ATF type is that they recommend and make sure any after market brand you pick uses only the manufactures recommendation. I have a 2002 Toyota 4 runner and I’m currently using Mobile 1 full synthetic ATF on a rebuilt transmission.

How often do you change YOUR oil??

A good rule of thumb for me I would say change the oil in the engine Atleast every 5,000-6,000. If you can do it sooner it will defiantly not hurt anything. The longer you wait the worst off, imho. Make sure you check the dip stick every so often: like every other gas station fill up if you want...

Will you keep your 4runner if gas hits $8 a gallon?

Here we are with a revised answer in 2022 where gas prices are at $7.00 and up all around the Bay Area. From back in 2020 gas prices where $4.00 less a gallon with still not much of a break. Yes I will still keep my 4 runner, even though she’s a gas hog Forsure.

    1999 Limited 4 Runner

Maintenance is the main predictor on how long your engine/trans and other parts are going to last. Oh and how much you abuse the truck, and of course if you live in a area that snows a lot it might be a good idea to hose off underneath the truck more often than if you lived somewhere where it...

Your self serve car wash process?

When I go to a self serve car wash the main things that I will use are the spray hose and if it has the option to spray soap or wax on I’ll do that. Usually I just bring my own bucket with a microfiber brush/cloth w/ soap and some yellow shammies to dry the truck. Just try and do it real early...

4Runner Drivers: They hate us ‘cause they ain’t us

My wife’s neighbor just inherited a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with 60,000 and was about to put it up for sale for 12,000 but my wife’s dad told him he needed to put it up for Atleast 16,000. He was going to just let it go because blue book likes to undervalue the used car market. Anyways he ended up...

    P0770 (Fixed but not really?...)

New to the forms this is just my 2cents. I’m currently in the process of diagnosing my same cell P0770.

    P0770 (Fixed but not really?...)

Hey from what it sounds like from what you described, it seems as if you are experiencing symptoms of a failing torque converter. If you hear popping sounds coming from the front bell housing, with lagging acceleration and since replacing all solenoids the torque converter is still having...
