I ran 265/75/16 on a 4 cyl stick 3rd gen, it got 20 mpg. with the stock radials it got 24 mpg. The difference between a C and E load on mpg isnt that big, its the diameter and void ratio that kills fuel efficiency... not that they are very fuel efficient anyway.

A diesel 1st gen for $800? Yes please. Also, as a new 4wd owner, these types of vehicles are the BEST to learn on. Easy/cheap to repair, and super fun to drive off road. Have fun! :)

I am a forum noob but not a 4wd noob. Two of the things ive noticed plagues most people is being a spectator in a participant activity, by that I mean people who post all the time but rarely "get out there" (my reason to join forums is to meet other people who like overlanding) and others...

The only other SUV i would own is a manual trans Xterra. Its very similar to the 4runner, but a few mechanical issues made me stick to the 4runner. The 4runner is probably one of the best all around multi purpose vehicles on the market. My only complaint with the 5th gen is that it feels too...

I feel your pain. Wheeling a daily driver is never a good idea. I tried it with my previous 3rd gen, but after many years of double duty it started to ask for something every month. It made me fall out of love with it. With my new 4runner, I am keeping it light duty only. Looking forward to...
