You are correct. Sensors 2 (downstream) can not be used for Sensors 1 (Upstream). However sensors 2 are interchangable between driver and passenger sides depending on which manufacturer due to the wire length.
Bank 2 Sensor 2 will be located directly underneath the truck where your feet would be if you're driving. Depending on the (sensor) manufacturer the main difference between Bank1Sensor2 and Bank2Sensor2 is the length of the wires. Driver side is longer. The NTK I replaced it with was suitable...
Stock sensors were/are Denso. Get the code to determine which sensor is faulty and you can replace it for under $130 with an aftermarket one. I had code P0136 (Faulty heated sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2). Replaced it with NTK(NGK) for $119 from Parts Plus. For $435, it sounds like a good deal if the...
Here's a qoute from Edmund's Car Talk:

I haven't replaced it yet. If the code returns, I will replace it with the Denso OE Part# 234-4805 for $133 from Parts Plus. Here's the site: http://www.densoaftermarket.com/catalog/catalog.php?part=o2sn
I replaced my plugs with the OE (Denso) from the stealer 2 years ago around 25K miles. As far as the P0136 code, I reset it two days ago and has not come back since. If it does, I will replace it with the OE type.
Thanks for the attachment. It confirmed my assumption that Bank 1 is in the passenger side. Attached is the locations of the different Emissions Control for the V6 (1GR-FE).
And below is the culprit of my problem, the Heated O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Lay down under the truck directly below the...
"Did you take it to the mechanic and changed it? Was it the downstream sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2? Bank 1 Sensor 2 is driver's side and after converter. I am searching to see which part i should get. Any suggestions?"
I have my own diagnostic tool. I read somewhere here that the Bank 1 is in the...
I'm in my 2nd week of the dreaded P0136 code. I've read almost all the threads in this site that contain the words "O2 Sensors" I even found TSB EG005-05 that applies to '03-'04 (1GR-FE) that says "The design of the Oxygen Sensor has been modified to prevent these (P0136/P0156) conditions". 5...
It will be interesting if the new Runner looks like this: http://www.toyota.co.id/cars/exterior/index.php?Model=Fortuner&kd=Exterior
Click the Interior under Galeri on the left. I do like the rear A/C vents being located on the roof. The vent locations on my current Runner make them almost...
"To reset the driver's side power window auto-close:
1. Push down and hold the driver"
At what position does my ignition has to be in to do this? None of my Auto roll up/down on the driver side and rear windows seem to work after I disconnected the battery. Also the remote rear window roll down...
