I think people who report 18+ mpg only drive down hill. Yesterday I drove 160 miles in my 2006 V8 that included mixed interstate (65-70 mph), rural highway (60 mph), and gravel and dirt roads (20-40 mph) and I averaged 17.7 mpg. Almost 18 mpg! Computer said 19.1. This is about as best I can...

Love my V8 except the gas milage in town.

I am a little late to this post but I will add my thoughts. The 4.7 V8 is an amazing engine. Perhaps the best ever made by Toyota, so far. The smoothness of the engine, the torque curve, the incredible low maintenance costs and simple design all make for a great package. The newer 4.6 and 5.7...

Oh man I love these wheels. Got get em in gunmetal for my 4Runner.
