    I'm done with AT Tires

Off Topic - I am so very jealous of your EM1 in EBP. That is my favorite combo of the Civic line, ever. I never liked the hatches much. I had a 97 EX Sedan which I loved (as well as a 98 ITR), but always liked the coupes. I still remember the EM1 commercial of a guy trying to escape from...

    I'm done with AT Tires

Yes, for sure. Hope I wasn't misunderstood as saying the tires would surely fail off road. I am in Utah, so I frequent places like Moab and SW Colorado. Lots of sharp rocks and rough trails. Perhaps the LTX's would do fine. I would just rather have tires with beefier sidewalls. :)

    I'm done with AT Tires

I went from KO2's to KO3's last year. Overall, I like the change. I feel it rides quieter, but maybe that's just from getting new tires. I haven't really tested snow performance yet, since we hardly got any snow last year, unfortunately. I briefly had Michelin LTX M/S's as well. They ride...

Here are things to consider before buying a 4th Gen

4th gens are getting up there in age and like any vehicle, will start to see various issues. Fortunately there are a lot of good write ups that will help with cost, but it’ll still take time/$$$.

    99 limited vs 2000 SR-5 ?

Typical 4Runner (or any vehicle) is not ordered but bought on the lot. Majority of the Limiteds were optioned with the rear locker as a standard build package. Region, or dealership may have left it out in some cases. So despite it being a low cost option, most people could not add it on even...

    99 limited vs 2000 SR-5 ?

My wife had a Sub Outback. Our first Subaru. It was actually a really nice car. I didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did. Never gave us any trouble over 80k miles and 7 years we owned it. It may actually make more sense for a younger kid, especially if lots of commutes and road travel is...

    turbodb's Build and Adventures

Looks fantastic. They did a great job. Always a good feeling to get your truck back after it’s fixed. You’ve inspired me to look for another 3rd gen. Had 2. A few Taco’s. Most recently a 2018. But never jelled with me. Search for a 5-sp SR5 begins!

    Strange drop in MPG

Not a direct experience with Toyota parts, but for my old Honda, which also used Denso and NGK parts, I've found in several instances where those parts were acquired at a parts store were found to be inferior. Either the part number was off by a digit or two, or the part itself was slightly...

    Strange drop in MPG

OE O2 sensors as well. Do not go to Autozone to get Bosch units. Bite the bullet and go to Toyota.

    33s or 35s for Colorado???

I would go out to CO as-is. Lots of trails you can run on 32's. Then decide whether you need to go 33 or 35, or upsize at all. I'd do sliders and skids before going 33(+), personally.

Help me decide which rig to keep!

You could always drop in a 3rz later on to get a bit more power. If I had a 1st Gen, or a Pickup, I'd definitely go that route.

    WTB: 3rd Gen 4Runner 4wd 5-sp <150k miles

Looking for a 96-00 4Runner, 4wd with 5-sp manual. 150k miles or less. Clean title. No rust belt trucks. Prefer vehicles located out west. Thanks.

Help me decide which rig to keep!

That would be a tough choice, but to me, the clear winner is the 1st Gen. So rare and cool looking. And you know it inside and out. As much as I love 3rd Gen's, I would definitely keep the 1st Gen.

6'6"... 2010 Trail, 2018 TRD Off Road or 2008 Land Cruiser?!

That is surprising to hear the LC has less rear leg room than the 4Runner. According to the spec sheet, LC has slightly more. But numbers don't always translate to real world figures, either. I thought my Tacoma had the same rear room as the 4Runner (per specs), but that did not turn out to...
