I gave Hector some gas. He seemed to like it. Pretty sure he winked a sleepy eye. Haha.. ok... seriously. I got the compression test and it turns out that the feared upcoming engine repairs came down to a basic tune up. Runs like a kitten.

I bought it for 750.00 cash in eurtweaka over CL. It was vaguely offered as a 1990 Toyota 4-Runner in need of minor engine work with no mention of the 4WD at all. I pretty much bought it sight unseen and getting the fellow in person, was able to offer him drastically less than what he wanted...
