Towing Mirrors: adding removable motorcycle mirrors near ends of T4R mirrors?

Found a solution that works!!! For anyone who's interested, I got rid of the factory mirrors and put on some after market ones made for a Tundra. They look just like the Dodge ram ones I posted about earlier. The install wasn't too bad... I had to make a template to drill three new holes...

    How To: Headlight Bulb Conversion (H11 to H9 & 9005 to 9011)

I had problems with the plastic connectors melting and the copper wires turning stiff from too much heat. I can’t say how much was from current draw vs heat from the V8 engine, but I ended up buying a separate light bulb wiring harness with thicker wires and water tight relays that draw the...

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I added tow mirrors designed for a Tacoma. I had to mark and drill new holes for the 3 studs that hold the mirror on and use an angle grinder to shorten the studs. I'm very happy since I can now SEE while backing up with the boat attached! First photo is with the mirrors up for tow mode...

P0705 code and alternator problems. Is my logic sound?

Thanks so much for the information, and extra thanks for updating your post to include the resolution. I had the same code and the exact same symptom, and 9 years after your post, you saved me a whole ton of time and worry. I actually had already started scoping out replacement vehicles...

Wow! Hat's off to you, Sir! 084RUNNAH, You started quite a trend. You rock! BTW, I guess I need to update my thumbnail photo... I now have a life, +1 sized tires and black and chrome rims from a Tacoma... she sits high and proud and looks like a new truck! :-)

    5th Gen Calipers

I don't know. I have centric parts, and so far, so good!

    5th Gen Calipers

Not sure on what to do to stop the problem. It's possible that @NC's comments about removing the calipers once a year and cleaning everything might help. I did the 5th gen upgrade using centric parts, and so far, so good (it's been a BUNCH of years... like maybe 1 or 2 after this thread...

Towing Mirrors: adding removable motorcycle mirrors near ends of T4R mirrors?

Here's an update... I went with the motorcycle mirrors. I bought a rubber bushing at home depot. you put a bolt in the bushing and as you screw in the bolt, the bushing expands. I drilled a hole on the outside of my mirror housing (being careful not to break the mirror's glass, and to...

Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

LetsFlyMan, I love the way your ride sits. What size tires are you running? I ask because I'm about to get new tires, and I like the look of the size you have. Thanks!

    06+ LED Headlight Replacement

I put some TYC brand headlights on my 4Runner about 4 years ago. I used black caulk to provide extra sealant around the edges… but only where it wouldn’t be visible with the hood closed. It’s have quality projector bulbs… nothing too fancy or too expensive. It’s been about 4 years, and I am...

Towing Mirrors: adding removable motorcycle mirrors near ends of T4R mirrors?

First I flipped, then I flopped... I've decided that I'm going to take the motorcycle mirrors to a "fasten all" store, and see if they have any any stainless steel rivet nuts that will fit the mirrors that I bought. I think I was on a good path with the approach, and I shouldn't let the...

ATF Exchange (using the cooling line)

That's been discussed at length on this forum... try doing a search on Valvoline Maxlife. The short answer is that there are two deeply divided camps. One camp feels that either there is no difference, or the differences don't matter. The much longer answer is in this thread...

Towing Mirrors: adding removable motorcycle mirrors near ends of T4R mirrors?

I've long had some round blind spot mirrors... they're better than nothing, but still don't meet my towing needs. Plus, last summer I got a bigger boat, so with that boat, I really can't see what I'm doing when I back up (not good!)... so I've gotta figure something out. There are some type...

Towing Mirrors: adding removable motorcycle mirrors near ends of T4R mirrors?

awesome! I like your solution. I've decided that I'm going to *try* some Dodge Ram mirrors. He's the scoop... it looks there as some models that are 18" long in normal mode, and 24" in towing mode. That's shorter than some of the alternatives, so maybe they'll look OK. The ones that I'm...
